The poster is not saying that everyone here has to speak our language among each other but they should at least know how to speak the basics if they want a chance to live and work here. The problem is your opportunityies are limited in the US if you don't speak English. Despite attempts to the contrary, education, business and all higher activites are conducted in English. Without speaking English children cannot even get an education in this country- they are sent to special ed.
