If you're shy around the one guy because you like him, you'll have to force yourself to talk to him. You'll know real quick if he is interested. If it's shyness in general, you'll probably grow out of it. You may just be a late bloomer, relationship-wise. You'll be fine.

19 is not a late bloomer. It's just the start I spent my 20s alone working and was able to save alot of money. I found love in my 30s and do not regret that time being alone (except for a few dates now and then) in any way.

Relax! Don't be intimidated by the social whirl of high school and college! It's a VERY short part of life! In ten years, lots of the "cool kids" will be train wrecks (Especially the "hot" girls!), and stuck in dead end jobs with kids. I was like you - I was very shy, a bookworm, didn't fit in, wore loose dresses to hide my body (My body embarassed me as a teen; as an adult I realized I was fine!), wore glasses, and all of that. Not till my late twenties did I start dating and having realtionships, and that allowed to get high grades, and two degrees. You have the rest of your life for relationships - and you will have them!
