I know what you mean. I was never molested, but I had a shitty childhood. It took two failed marriages to realize what was going on in my life. Now I do not date women unless they have their heads straight. I have met the finest woman I have every known. Not just the best I have ever dated. She is the kindest woman I have ever known. Simply by her presence and her way of life, she has taught me what it means to have a healthy relationship. I know a big part of finding a good partner is to wait no less less than 8 months before sleeping with them. During those months your thinking is clearer and you are far, far more able to analyize the character and personality of your potential mate without being emotionally attached. Once you sleep with someone, something changes. You become attached and your willingness to overlook discrepencies in their character clouds your better judgement. Next thing you know you are wrapped up in another dysfunctional relationship and soon enough you are back to where you were in the last relationship that made you miserable. Good luck, my friend.

^^^I agree that building an emotional attachment does not require sex. But it seems to become such an intigrated aspect of a relationship way too early much too often in relationships.No, the 8 months concept is not science based. Actually even 6 months might do it if someone is dating another quite regularly. I just know the longer you wait the more you discover details about a person as you keep them at arm's length. Try it. I swear, it is amazing how well it works.
