I sit with my back to the wall. I carry more than two finely honed knives. I am big, tattooed all over and the nicest guy you would ever meet. If I'm out with my family and think you mean us harm...then that is your ass.

I sit with my back to the wall in every restaurant, make sure i can get out the quickest if i need to cause pain to protect others or my family. In trying to help out others in harms way i have I have had a gun to my chest, a knife to my neck. I have been kicked in the ribs trying to stop a guy beating on his wife in the middle of town. i have a university degree, I build houses. i am described by most as a hardworking, head on his shoulders kinda guy. I will not tolerate abuse of power buy anyone, including a cop. i don't fight, i subdue. If push came to shove i wouldn't hesitate to wipe someone out. I don't carry a weapon, never have, not necessary at all. your streets smarts will keep you alive way longer than a shank.

You are so not alone. I have been growing increasingly paranoid since moving into my new apt. I hear and read so many news stories of women being mugged and or raped. I carry 3 different weapons: pepperspray, a comb knife, and a vile of acid.

This is PTSD> I know I used to have the same problem. It started when I got attacked by a group of men who came up behind me. Meditation can help. When you're about to leave the house imagine yourself surrounded in protective light. Be alert but lose the fear, it just attracts what you are trying to avoid. Relax you will be fine.

You are living in what the military describes as a mindset of "orange". The guy who said "only a coward walks with a weapon" is a moron. If I were you I would grab a 15 dollar can of OC (oleoresin capsium...ms) spray from a local gun dealer and drop it in your pocket. Get the 2 million SHU. It is like liquid lava hitting your adversaries face. It saved my life once.

I can never understand how people can sleep or even sunbathe with their eyes closed in public. I always keep one eye open. Maybe it's a guy thing. I also don't like my wife going out alone after dark.

I feel the same way you so. I keep knives on me, (my husband won't let me carry my gun, I get too mad too fast). All that, and I still take martial arts.

lol i've been the same way since i went to a scool that was 99% black and 1%white/hispanic. not that i have anything against other nationalities but we lived and went to school in the projects in florida. it was way scary
