You have a victim mindset. That's why.

Only 24 and already married with children? Yikes! That sounds like the root of your problem - you never allowed yourself to become an adult. Should have waited till at least 30 for kids, but what's done is done. From this point, talk to a good therapist about allowing yourself to face the "boogeyman".

Get over this fear fast. If you don't, when you die, you will be very very scared.

I'll be 50 in a few weeks and I am also afraid of the dark. I realize I made myself that way, but it's real...very real...

I'm a dude and a I'm the same way, I like to be home when it is dark outside. In the winter time that is a large portion of the day.

Being 24, having kids, nor being married has anything to do with being scared of the dark. It's just a fear you have to over come.

I'm the same way...it's really a drag.

I'm also terrified of spiders and I don't think saying the words "have to over come" will solve those problems. I've come to accept my phobias and they don't cripple me, but I'm not going to actively try to "over come" either. I sleep with a light or TV on and keep a can of Raid close by. I'm good to go.

I know one of the worst badasses in the world, can whip up on any other bad ass. I found he was afraid of the dark when he went deer hunting with me. He would not get out beyond the lantern light.
