you remind me of my husband! his master plan is to get a huge life insurance policy for himself and then "right before" he gets too old to have fun anymore he is going to ride off the side of a cliff in a "mountain biking" accident.....whatever floats your boat!

OP: You rock! I'll be sixty in a few years, and hope I feel the same way!

^^why is it sad to not want to get to the point where someone else has to clean your butt for you after you poop your pants? we both believe that the qaulity of a persons life is more important that just existing...if anything your point of view is the sad one if you really are looking forward to sitting all alone in a nursing home wishing someone would put a pillow over your face :(

Yesterday, my 85 year old neighbor took his 70 year old wife to Applebee's for dinner and then to the Gila River Casino. Live as though today was your last day.

Good for you, Op. I retired at 49 and I am chasing my first college degree. Live life to the fullest, man. For the person who intends to check out in old age, hey, I can't blame you there either. Living in a nuring with a sound mind, but a prisoner of your body is no life. My mom was blind the last 15 years of her life. When she made the decision park her car the last time, she stopped living on that day. Bless her heart, she passed away this past December.
