Op here- he was physically abusive to me in our relationship, and has no problem yelling and screaming at her over minor things. We went to court and he lied to them about his finances so that he would not have to be responsible for her financially. His new gf (who lives with him) began harassing me and I had to take her to court when she riled her friends (that I don't know) into threatening my safety, and accusing my husband of disgusting things. With his actions and past behavior, he doesn't deserve to be an active part of her life. Oh and to the person above who said that I don't have custody for a reason- I do. I have 50% and my lawyer was pushing for more due to the domestic violence but couldn't gain any ground because even though he admitted it openly to both of our lawyers, there were no police reports to prove it.

I am fully aware about family court. If the mother has only 50% shared custody there is a hell of a lot more going on in this situation that the OP is telling us. She is here looking for sympathy, obviously, but she is a contributing factor to the head of her kid being screwed just as much as she accuses her ex for. If the truth was known, I bet the posters would believe this child should be taken away from this mother

Since you're so fully aware of family court, you must have been asleep the last 5 years when "shared custody" has become the norm. Oh, I guess you mean only in the cases where YOU were involved....Shared custody IS the new norm and most judges will opt for that in the majority of cases. Sheesh.
