^How do you know that? Nobody knows that, really. I'm pretty smart, but I wouldn't make a statement claiming that there is nothing beyond our mortal existence. Reincarnation? Why not? We might be even be immortal aliens in human form or we might be just a computer program set on automatic.

If this is about your cat, I can relate 0. I will legitimately be concerned for well being when my girl goes. It will be devastating, and I know it. I have her checked regularly at the vet, take her there for every little thing I notice might be wrong, feed her the best food, give her supplements that will enhance and prolong her life.I may not have a child, but I am a mommy ;) You will be okay, time will heal, I wish you well.

To OP - why not reincarnation? Because there is absolutely no shred of evidence to support it. To come up with a bizarre theory with no evidence whatsoever is the definition of irrationality. You are choosing to cope with your loss through irrational fantasies, and that is not healthy. Life ends when the brain dies, and that's it. There is no soul, no afterlife, no god, no faeries, no angels, no supernatural world whatsoever. You would be a lot healthier if you learned to accept reality.
