^ I don't think that's possible. Two different friends of mine have this and neither are even interested in sex during an outbreak, both have said the outbreak itself is painful. And to the op are you sure it was your ex GF who gave it to you or did you give it to her? One of my friends with this virus is married and the doctor told them that there is no test to determine how long either had it before they actually had an outbreak so to this day they don't know if it was him or her who had it first..

wow so much false info. i have had it for ten years now. u can pass it even when not having an outbreak. and while it is a virus that can go "dormant" it can still be spread. do your reasearch before handing out ur stupid advice. best advice, talk to your doc about the best treatment. there are plenty of understanding women out there and remember god never gives you more than he believes you can handle. good luck

^you know when you are shedding, so don't have sex. i believe i had it for awhile but didn't notice an outbreak until after sleeping with a lover for over 2 years. he got tested for a year and no sign of it. i just don't get it, my first outbreak was 3 small sores and my second was 1 small sore, pimple like. no outbreaks now for 10 months. it's just unfair.

The longer you have it the less the outbreaks occur. I caught it when I was 17 high school jock. Iam now 48 and haven't had an outbreak in a few years. Herpes isn't a good thing but it is made to sound worse then it really is. It's no worse then a cold sore on your lip in my humble opinion. Keep your chin up it's not the end of the world it will be ok trust me!

I have been suffering from (HERPES) disease for the last four years and had constant pain, especially in my knees.
