Op here. I was age 21 when I joined the Army in 1981. All of my training revolved around defeating the Soviets. Anytime we shot targets they resembled Soviet soldiers. When enemy vehicles were in manuals they were also referenced to Soviets. When I donated to Soldiers of Fortune I recieved a poster with a picture of armed Afghan Mujahideen soldiers sitting with the mountains in the background. Above the picture was a caption Support the Afghan Freedom Fighters. Below the picture was the Soldiers of Fortune address to send money. I hung it above my bed in the barracks. Ironically-I don't know if it had an impact-I was promoted four ranks in 16 months. At the time that was pretty quick during peacetime in an Artillery unit. I was told from someone who was present during an inspection that my First Seargent thought the poster was awesome the first time he saw it. lol

2 up. Op here. You are right about Brezinski. That guy is about as globalist as a person can be. His daughter cohosts Morning Joe on MSNBC every morning with Joe Scarbrough. I think she is a sarcastic, arrogant b****. She mirrors her father well. Our problem in Afghanistan back then was not propping up a group of those people sympathic to the West after the Soviets left. When they pulled out, we pulled our financial support. It created a vacuum and started a civil war that brought the Taliban to power. As smart as the people are at the top of the intelligence world, they have done some really retarded shit over the decades. Some of them fit well the label of Educated Fools. I suppose that is part of the problem of putting acedemics in charge with no street smarts.

^ None of them were "sympathetic to the West". They don't want ANYONE invading their country or supporting their enemies. Who would? Could you imagine China funding some militarist group in the US who is "sympathetic to the East"? The Mujahideen became the Taliban.

Op here. I think you are wrong. The Northern Alliance was sympatic to the West. Their leader, Ahmad Massoud, was killed by a suicide bomber 3 days before 9-11.

3^ You might recall, the "Northern Alliance" (a name the west gave to a group of regional strongmen) were formerly in the employ of the USSR fighting our mujahideen. The Taliban would have an interest in stopping their alliance with the West. This doesn't mean the strongmen were sympathetic to anything beyond new weaponry and cash. They are thinking 30 years down the road when the US is long gone again.
