I knew a guy with a handicap who did this. Talk about having his head screwed on backwards. Man! Anyway, be sure to always remember, unless you have a chemical imbalance, mental illness is nothing more than ones inability to think properly. So, read good books on the topic such as a college level Human Development book(It is veeeery good)and/or seek professional help. Then I think you will be fine.

Scars don't make ugly. What you did was set up a defensive barrier against surfacey people, the types you don't want in your life anyway. It's a good idea to not fight yourself on this by pretending to be normal, and try to figure out what gave you that subconscious motivation. When you do, find someone to talk to about it, someone who can listen and care without needing to understand.

I can remember the amount of pain I had to be in emotionally to harm myself physically. Scars fade, wounds heal. Make sure you're ready for love before you go looking for it and it will find you.
