2^, have you read the story of Jesus feeding the 5000? They were people who came to hear Him preach and teach. He had great compassion for them. He prayed for them and took care of them by feeding them. They weren't lazy, shiftless people who needed fed by the government. They were people who recognized Jesus for Who He Is - the Savior, the Son of God.

1 up. That is correct. The people yelling the loudest about the poor consider themselves Christian. I know, I was in several Baptist churches for 40years and those people pay lip service to the poor. Sure, they give some money to the poor, but they never set up one weekly soup kitchen. Their focus was more on epanding the size of the church property.
