Don't get too buried in that ritual. It detaches you from reality.

Don't worry about what you are doing for romance presently. As you grow up and mature that will change.

The fantasy is always better than the reality. You should have realistic goals, not believe in these fairytales.

Reality sucks, stick with the fantasy!

People don't read anymore. Let the fantasy inform your reality. As humans, we are hardwired to make meaning, so make the meaning that satisfies your needs. Sooner or later, you'll find someone that has similar needs, and you can make meaning with them. Just don't fear the loss of something you don't have anyway, that's the main reason people end up living in unhappy situations.

arrr, there twar an ol wrinkly cuss of a Tom what shared the galley with me mates. It tweren't mine, and none o the ship would claim im, but that old Tom kept us free from the harbor rats, so we fed it scraps from the larder. Must've been three weeks we fought the doldrums after droppin the slaves from Antioch, and the Captain ordered the crew belowdecks to row after the cook served a mighty fine meal with salted jerky, meat gravy, an a scrumptious soup the likes of which I'd never tasted in me years. Never did see that Tom again...

Stay away from those Romantic movies, books, tv shows. Love is Love and you'll know it. But not while you are stuck watching movies.

Ah, its nice while it lasts, but it never does. Everything gets old after awhile, but you can always pick up another book or watch another movie...

^ Your experience with a narrow slice of reality called your life cannot be generalized to "never." It could just be that you can't be pleased and are always looking for greener pastures.
