These people are deluded. Of course, they won't need you as much. Grandkids living states away won't need you all that much either. I understand your role has been as caregiver, and now you will feel without a role, hence not a person. The thing is, you are still here, and there are some compelling reasons to stay. You just have to look. Give someone else your gifts, be it animals, old people, friends, or children.
