I spent most of my life trying to please my mother as well. I wasn't happy until I learned to do things to please myself. Surround yourself with positive people who care about you and stop basing your self worth on what she thinks. I know, easier said than done, but it can happen if you let it.

*****I'm the OP! You folks are very sweet. Yes I take care of my mom's son my half brother, however I don't believe in half or step siblings so he is simply my brother. :)I am trying to learn to love myself but its difficult because I shut everyone out who tries to get close, in her defense I believe her mother was the same way but I learned to not be like that and I don't understand how its just so easy to drop your kids and not care how they are or what their doing. I'm glad that I'm not the only one who struggles with this! Thank you for the encouragement!
