I hear you...when I was seven, I cried when we threw our dish sponge away. Couldn't imagine it sittting in a dump rotting for 10 years. I pulled it out of the trash and kept it in my closet for years. Now, I still get sad at the thought that things in my life and memories are now in a pile of garbage someone looks at every day, but at least I don't keep them all!

I often wonder what has become of meaningless objects that have passed through my hands over the years. Where is that pair of gloves I no longer have? Who is now using that dresser I sold at a garage sale? Did anyone ever find, and are they wearing and enjoying, a vintage emerald ring that I lost years ago? I miss it, but I hope it was the highlight of their year to find that enjoyable piece. I hope they kept it.

Think of how much better our world would be if we all felt like this.

OP my friends had thrown the construction horse down an embankment and into the water. The light was flashing, and I felt sorry for it, (is that a little over the top?) I waited until they all left and climbed down and got it out of the water, and while doing that I cut my hand pretty badly. Weird huh?

I used to take the weeds that my mom pulled out of the garden and replant them in the back of the yard.

Yeah, loads of us were like that as young kids. Most of us then grow up (although there are some adults that just can't handle the thought of any suffering in nature - I personally think that is a consequence of modern middle-class life, sheltered from the cold hard realities of nature). Vegans - I hate the pathetic weak-minded morons. Get real - choke a chicken today! :)

I have obsessive compulsive disorder and once when I saw a fat ugly ant in the kitchen I gently picked it up and I felt sorry for it when it tried to bite me. It took me a week to get over it.
