It's because of this place I was so mean to my family, I guess I will never heal from my childhood.

As an abused child I was taken away from my parents but I spent a week in JAIL because my county had no where else to put me. That a double whammy.

Healing from a tormented childhood is no easy thing, but it can be done. Forgiveness has a lot to do w/it. Ask for help. Include God in that. If you were able to prove the state wrong, you have a lot going for you, and a lot of strength. Use it constructively now. I wish you healing

I know you can heal from your childhood. As far as everything else...Well if your family stood by and did nothing when you were in need then they must be cowards. That place looks like hell on earth, like a psychiatric institution. I personally do not think you should have to deal with any of those family members who ever turned there backs on you. It would take courage to face you and tell you that they know what they did was wrong. Maybe if any of those family members could sincerely tell you that what they did was wrong then you could forgive them to some degree. http://www.cchr.org/
