The same is said about my wife.
That's why she married me, a white man.

I know the feeling. Growing up, my mother was very strict about enunciating. Slang or "ebonics" was strictly prohibited. As a result, I was often accused of speaking "white" by other children my age. Now, as an adult, I'm so grateful to my mother for teaching proper diction.

OP:Being white isn't a bad thing by any means, its just that I feel like they're saying because I don't speak slang, im quiet, nice etc. that im acting "white." I just think that is absolutely ridiculous. Im where I am today because I wanted to make something of myself. I didn't want to feel like im just exisiting. I just turned 23 a few days ago, I work for a great company, just got promoted, im buying my first house, im single, no kids, I have a high GPA...and THAT makes me white..lol ok I will be an oreo till the day I die :)

I have had the same kind of experiences as the OP. I'm black, well educated, and brought up in a two-parent household, both of whom have advanced degrees (M.S. and Ph.D.). Slang and relaxed speaking were VERY strictly prohibited in my household. So I was told all of the time as a child that "talked white." I would have to correct my peers and tell them, "No, I speak correctly." The only thing I can add is, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks about you. It matters what you think. That's all.

i'm a pretty racist person. I don't like most of the blacks i meet. I do however love it when blacks educate themselves and become something positive or useful in relation to the community the reside.
