Honestly, I don't think it has a special meaning...the bride just wants to do something a little edgy and avante gard, but still classy. You know, something beyond all white, which is more for that textbook, traditional storybook stuff, and which may not be her thing. Black accessories, like belts and sashes over a white dress, is kind of a new style I've been seeing lately. Don't worry!

Sounds like you are a daring and non-traditional bride...done right, it should prove quite stunning. The black veil is part of the nun's dressings in the ritual marriage ceremony in the Catholic Church as a "Bride of Christ". As far as the tradition of wearing black, your mother is just probably old fashioned and associates the color with mourning and funerals. As a wedding coordinator my advise is simple: this is your day, have it your way. Enjoy.

Just something different, simple as that - to be somewhat unique, I suppose. The replies have been enjoyable to read, though! *lol*
