Be thankful for the love and not the material aspects of finding a man who loves you enough to want to marry you. That's really pretty sad, maybe he deserves better.

Materialistic

Perhaps you should tell him, but soften the blow by letting him screw your girlfriend while you break the news.

Just be happy he gave you one at all. You should love it no matter what the size. My husband got me a $50 engagement ring 10 years ago, I still wear it to this day. He has offered to get a bigger one many times but I love the one he got me because he got it for me to show he loved me and wanted to marry me.

I think what you just said sums up many women out there. Secretly inside, they hold material objects in more light than humans. And front a fake personality of over emotionalized expressions.

The rock may be small, but how big is the love? That's something ALL THE MONEY ON EARTH couldn't buy.
Remove this stupid comment

No matter how small the rock is, it's still obviously larger than your heart.

I can't say that this thought hasn't crossed my mind too although hate is a strong word, I never hated my ring. I guess I could say I was wishful. However, seven years later and I honestly wish I had just a plain band to wear. Both my engagement ring and wedding ring have diamonds in them and I just want to wear a simple plain band. It isn't about how big the diamond(s) are it is about the love. I am more in love with my husband now then I was when we got married and I didn't think that was possible when I married him. Just remember that love is about each other and not material things.

ok... Now the important question...how big is his dick?

You are a b**** I got lucky my wife and I got ring tattoos by her choise
Remove this stupid comment

people like you give women a bad name. it's not about the ring, it's about the marriage.
Remove this stupid comment

Asshole... you don't deserve the ring, let alone the man.
Remove this stupid comment

he deserves better

Hey, she didn't mention how much he makes. If he makes a ton of $$ and only spent a little bit on the ring...what the heck? I bet most of the people making comments drive nice, fully loaded cars or SUV's...then it shouldn't be about the ammenities, just that it has 4 wheels and can get you place to place.
Remove this stupid comment

My fiance got me a huge ring...much bigger than even I would have picked out..and every time I look at it I think "WOW, he REALLY, REALLY loves me!!"
Remove this stupid comment

To the SUV commentor. A ring doesn't protect you if another ring T-Bones your ass. My SUV.. fully loaded of course, will protect me if that happens. Also, A bigger ring won't get her home safely in a snow storm. My SUV.. fully loaded of course, will because it has 4wd. Also, having a bigger ring, won't get her cross country with more security. My newer SUV.. fully loaded of course.. will get me farther.. God willing.. than a piece of shit car. I think you made an aweful comparison. It doesn't matter how much he makes. It matters how much he loves her. You can always upgrade a ring to something bigger down the road. Maybe if she and they are lucky, the ring size will grow with their love for each other.

Yup, materialistic pathetic b****.

I felt the exact same way when my husband and I were engaged. 7 years and 2 children later, it's the most beautiful thing I have ever had in my life. I treasure it always yet ended up with a more useful ring that he surprised me with about 4 years ago. You're not evil or hateful, our society is so guilt ridden. Just don't lose the man over the small rock, best of luck to you!
Remove this stupid comment

matericalistic, yes ,,,, b**** ... well that is yet to be determined, listen to what is being told to you by these posts, if all you want is money then wrong guy, but then it has been determined
Remove this stupid comment

Everything has been said already, but I will add that I love the comment about the small diamond seed growing into larger things. Perhaps your heart can grow larger, too. My diamond was average, I didn't trade it up, but I did eventually get something I loved even more: A plain, gold, band. There is nothing prettier, actually, and when you are finally mature, which are you not yet, you'll understand what it's all about. Right now you're just focused on jewelry and gowns, but if you mature, and hopefully quickly, you'll see the light.

I loved the above comment. You are so right. Too bad wisdom comes at such a late point.

At least you care enough to not hurt his feelings! That is love, putting up with some one or their "things" (a ring or asshole parents or too many cats) because you care enough to deal.
Remove this stupid comment

The reason I hate it is because in the beginning he said he would not spend alot of money bc engagement rings are overrated...that hurt me.
Remove this stupid comment

So you knew how he felt up front. The fact that he gave you one at all means a lot!
Remove this stupid comment

Ever heard of it's the thought that counts? You should be ashamed of yourself! Very materialistic! And the fact that he told you his thoughts from the beginning says a lot! I don't think you deserve it!
Remove this stupid comment

well his ex wife had about 3 carets sitting on her finger (she left him BTW after 12 years) So why is it wrong that im hurt that he cant do the same for me and b****ed about the fact that he had to buy a ring bc in his words you shouldnt need a ring, just love, bla bla.. He didnt use this same mindset on his first wife!!!!

And you couldn't even get a picture not already not on the site.
Remove this stupid comment

Its nothing about jealously to be honest. I am pissed not bc she had 3caret but for the simple fact that NOW its a big deal to buy a ring. The size would have NEVER bothered me if he wouldnt have b****ed in the beginning about having to buy a ring. He could have bought me a ring pop and I would have loved it...But the constant b****ing before he bought the ring made me feel less a person and less loved, so why shouldnt i be dissapointed in what was given??? BTW I NEVER mentioned marriage or even suggested it, nor ever commented on what size of ring was expected, never even thought about it till one day he just started complaining on the "real meaning" of rings and how they mean nothing. If someone wanted to buy u a car then bought you a bicycle because cars are materialistic, wouldnt you be pissed too??????

greedy ho
Remove this stupid comment

Her story has changed quite a bit in these posts, it would have been nice to hear it all in the beginning. Yes, she is fixated on something that shouldn't matter in the long run, but the guy.......whining about buying a ring before he bought it? What a loser. She should have given it back and said "you keep it, if it is such a hardship you shouldn't have bothered" and moved on to bachelor #2

For HIS sake, you should definitely call off the engagement. He deserves better.

You give all of us a women a bad name. It is not about the size or the cost. You are materialistic and superficial. Your marriage if it happens does not have a snowballs chance in hell of lasting. I give it two years.
