I kicked you to the curb, hoping you'd break your additions to alcohol, nicotine and narcissism...But how do *I* break my addition to YOU?

deep breath, step back & start over, never looking back. HE has to be the one to change, and he has to make it happen, only if he wants it to.

You can't change someone..he/she has to change for him/herself. It's best to take yourself out of the situation and move on, You'll be fine.

They say there's no cure for narcissism. The pain of living without the loved one is less than the pain of living with him. I say embrace the pain. You did the right thing.

From the author: He still calls, and every time the caller-ID shows it's him, my heart skips a beat and lands in my throat. I don't answer the phone, tho...

I suspect this will be little, if any, comfort. You are not alone. Sigh.

Oh... been there, done that. No contact and moving forward is the very best thing you can do for yourself. Do the research about narcissism, learn everything you can, learn to see him as a disorder, not a human, know deep within that there is no cure for what he has. He doesn't even think anything's wrong with him. Trust me. And move on to a saner, happier life in the long run. Your soul's survival depends on it.

Typical....I hope you never find another...I'll bet that really HELPED didn't it?! The answer to everything that is a challenge in life : Kick 'em out. Maybe you don't deserve to be around anyone because you can't deal with the fact that all humans have problems and just because they are not the kind you feel like helping/ dealing with. Typical.

When you find yourself in a rut.....QUIT DIGGING !!!!! spending a lot of time dealing with how to NOT deal with something/someone is simply ridiculous.Stop emailing and posting about this anchor in your speedboat of life...and go out and meet ppl...work...volunteer...get a hobby...anything but dwelling on how to NOT dwell !!! GOOD LUCK !!!

this is not to put you down, it's just to make you aware, the word is addiction, not addition.

just do it. Did he break his habits? If he did, then you got what you wanted. Make it work - either way.
