I'm worried there's just too much baggage to fix it. We're finally moving in together & I'm scared shitless. I pray this doesn't end badly. :(

*OP* Well we've been together 3 years it seemed like a natural progression but I'm just scared of what would happen if it doesn't work out... Things are good now, but weren't always and I'm just afraid our past will rear it's ugly head.

Most relationships fail when the couple moves in before getting married. It ruins part of the mystique.

3 years? This shared past is the baggage? How bad was it? It seems you have both moved on to a place that is better. If you are each helping the other become the people you have always dreamed of becoming, why be scared?

*OP* ^ Well, I'm scared because I think we're just ignoring the things we've been thru rather than truly dealing with them. It's hard to have proper communcation with him and we're gonna need it now more than ever living together.

Communication is key. Be honest. Does his atttitude in general remind you of a parent or sibling? Are you still on good terms with that person? Living together or getting married does not change anyone for the better right off but it sure does magnify the problems that you may rather ignore.

Start out with a clean slate! The future may be better than the past. People change! The past is the past, don't dwell or live in the past, look forward. Whats done is done!

if you move in as a "trial period," you will probably fail. if you move with with a Commitment to make it work, your chances probably go up. it's all in the state of mind.
