I was an exotic dancer for years and I hid it from everyone. Nobody had a clue because I looked like the innocent girl next door. I'm so ashamed of who I was.

As long as you don't let it affect your life today. You made a bad choice and now you have to live with the consequences. I assume you didn't become a drug addict or kill anyone or contract AIDS, in which case you are now free and that is behind you. Let it go. Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Adversity that doesn't kill us will make us stronger. Good luck baby girl.

Leave the past in the past. Learn to forgive yourself, we all make mistakes.

Don't be ashamed. You did what you did, for whatever reasons. Then you moved on. Be proud of yourself. Good Luck.

agreed with ^ If you are still doing it at 40 then be ashamed.

Shake your money maker. I think that if guys are willing to pay to look at attractive women the ladies ought to be able to profit from it. Win win. It's just a job, as long as you didn't do any "extra services".

I used to be a DJ in a strip club. I saw how they girls were treated by some of the customers, and yet all the girls were trying to do is put food on the table and a roof over their head. It's not a bad occupation. It's societies view of exotic dancers that is wrong. You have nothing to be ashamed of.. if people can't except it, then trust me when I say that their narrow minds and prejudice views are something that you don't want in your life. Because at some point their ugliness will turn on you and lash out.. let your past go and walk away from them. We are all god's children in the sight of the lord.. we are all equal and they are sinners too.

Nothing to be ashamed of. Besides, you were probably just going through a stage (no pun intended). We've all done things that we later regret, and you're judging yourself more harshely than anyone else ever would. Let it go, no one knows about it anyway so what's the big deal?

Don't be ashamed. I agree with the poster a few up: it's society that makes it sound wrong (which is usually comprised of jealous women who don't give it up anyways).

I personally feel like it is a job just like any other, granted it is mostly for females. TWhat is the difference between a man paying you for entertainment and you paying a man for help with something he is better at like opening the pickle jar? Don't be ashamed.

Loose the shame. No one ones. No harm no foul. Forgive yourself so you can be free!

^7 Who the hell are you trying to fool? My (former) best friend was a stipper and her friends used to hang out at our place. They were a bunch of selfish money grubbing cokeheads who blew half of their earnings on their habits and spent all their time discussing how to get more money out of the guys stupid enough to patronize the clubs (or worse, become their sugar daddies). The funny thing is, when I first met these women I had this open mind thinking how it was an honest good paying job. Once I spent some time among them I realized how crazy and vile so many of them were.

What ever you did for a living is NOT who you ARE. Leave it in the past and live in the present. There are Many things in my past I was ashamed of...then I met someone who healed my soul and what made me cringe b4 has now become some points of laughter. Focus on knowing you have a good heart and not what others judge as "Bad". EVERYONE has things in their past they wish they could forget. Never look down - and that includes on yourself!

You did what you did, and can't undo it...so leave it behind.

Why should you be ashamed? Would you be proud if you were a bank officer who gave mortgages to poor people whose homes were certain to be reposessed and sold again and again? When I was young, I committed crimes, sold drugs, and hustled gay men for money. So what? I'm an adult now, I have a family, and I have moved on. Don't be harsh with yourself! :)
