You can stop any time you want... sure with some drugs, you will need help. But the idea that addicts are somehow victims of the addiction is BS. For most of us, sobriety is a given because we take ownership and responsibility for our lives and DEAL with our problems instead of running away and numbing the pain... which IS weak.

when you are truely addicted to something and have been using whatever it is for a long period of time you can NOT just stop using.my great uncle was an alcoholic for the greater part of his life and he decided he was just going to stop drinking. it killed him
