I didn't have any money so my dad paid for our wedding. My in-laws told everyone they paid for it all. I'd like to tell them to fuck off.

just "allow" them to hear you tell people of how it would've been nice if they would've helped with the wedding.....or simply tell them to f*** off.

Uh oh. This is not a good sign for what you have in store for the future, Better learn quick how to set boundaries with them. Instead of telling them to F off, confront them in a calm and cool manner regarding the truth and tell them that you don't appreciate them being dishonest about the wedding. Remind them that you and your spouse are just starting off and that their behavior makes things difficult for you. If they don't care, then don't see them until they learn mutual respect and consideration otherwise you will be in for lots of drama that could possibly wreck your marriage.

this happened to me at an Easter Party. I bought the food, did the decorations, cooked the food. We had to have it at her house because it was much larger then my place. I even cleaner her house for her, and she took all the credit when in reality she sat on her ass and didn't do a damn thing. I never said anything to her.

Sounds like you need to set down some definite ground rules with the in-laws. And if your new husband doesn't back you up, cut him off until he does.

Well you should have been more selective when choosing a mate from the Trailer park!

My inlaws didn't pay for anything at our wedding. They didn't show up to the wedding but they all showed up early to the hall and took all the tables right up front! They didn't bring gifts and the ones who brought a card gave nothing. This was my husband's second marraige so I guess they felt it didn't count? Some people have NO CLASS

Tell them to "eat a bowl of dick".

Why do people want big weddings anyway? Pay for a bunch of people to eat and drink that have nothing to do with the day. Just keep your money and spend it on a nice honeymoon or house.

You should. I did in my own way. My problem was that my new father in-law does not approve of me so I sent him a very long text telling him what I think of him. Now my husband does not speak to him anymore. We are both much much happier for it. We believe in standing up for ourselves and not letting people put us down for any reason family or not.

when sending the thank you notes, something like 'thank you for coming to the beautiful wedding my father, NAME, made possible for us. we appreciate the gift, blah blah, blah" would have been perfect and to the point.

YOU can always tell some friends when your inlaws are near that it was a pleasure for you to pay for wedding as you felt your love for your spouse was better than having to have the inlaws pay.THAT WUD SHUT THEM UP
