You don't hate your mother. I know. At this age you hate yourself more. You need to find a way to enjoy your time together. Regret is the worst thing in the world, there is no changing things once she is gone. You could wake up every morning for the rest of your life with a weight on your chest wishing you had tried. I cannot stress this to you enough.

My Mom uses God to help her deal with her cancer. She put it into His hands. If anything, she now shows even more love to us in her family. Maybe, it's the mortality thing, some take it better than others when faced with theirs.

My mom, brain cancer. I hate the cancer as it has made her an entirely different person. I try to reflect with her on the memories of a time less 'crazy' and that helps. Don't you think she hates that cancer has changed her too? She's still your mom.

My aunt got breast cancer and became even MORE selfish and bossy than she was before. I don't hate my aunt but I won't put up with that shit even if the person gets cancer. No one should be enabled to be a tyrant just because they are ill.

Thank you! A lot of these comments actually helped put things in perspective and helped look at it differently. Except for the "spite" comment. FU. But to everyone else thank you its nice to know that I am not the only one and that this is a fairly common thing. Maybe it WILL get better and I might get my mom back. Oh, also, she is not going to die. She has been cleared of all cancer and has had no more issues. Thanks again.

You hate the result of the situation caused by the cancer and the ensuing medical treatment. You do not HATE your mother. Don't be afraid to tell your mother that you love her, but that you miss the ways it was before her medial problems. Tell her that you wish it could be that way again. She needs to hear you say that and you need to know that you said it before anything can change. It may fix it, it may make it worse, but you will know you did the right thing and thats whats most important.

The same thing happened to my mother. She had lung cancer and received treatments for over a year. When she finally "recovered" she wasn't my mom anymore, she was someone else. I miss her. /:
