It wasn't/isn't your mother's choice. What state do you live in? Where I live, 'the state' brings the charges. Regardless, you're the wounded party, it's your decision, not your mother's. Have you spoken to police and/or court officials? If all that's happened is you spoke w/your mother about it and she said 'no, I don't want you to have to go through that'... Start w/the police. If you're young - usually under 18 - and/or poor, they'll help hook you up w/representation. IT'S NOT YOUR MOTHER'S DECISION.

She is trying to protect you from re-living it over and over. It can be just as traumatic to testify.

Is she still with him? If so I would be upset with her, but if she dropped him way back then... well she did her job. I'm sorry it wasn't what you thought was best, but I am sure she did.

No, the mother is protecting herself from dealing with what she put her daughter through. The poster obviously wants justice... the mother wants avoidance.

Blame your parents for your f***ed up life. Just stay in that hate filled place that keeps you where you are.

I'm so sorry for what you went through. I dated a woman that actually encouraged her preteen daughter to dress skimpy around me. I figure it was a horrible ploy to try to keep me cuz she knew what kinda b#tch she was. I left. I felt bad for her daughter. Maybe that's what you're mom was thinking.

It's not as uncommon as people think for the mother to choose avoidance. My mom tried to as well when I came out as a teenager with what her husband did to me. I still pressed on and had him convicted. He ruined a part of my life and at the time my mother didn't want to believe me. It broke my heart.I still have a hatred for him. I don't think I'll ever be rid of that anger for good, but I've forgiven my mother and she see's now how wrong she was to try to protect not only herself but essentially him. I have a daughter now. I'm scared everyday that something bad will happen to her. I've protected her as much as I can possibly do. I hope that I've broken the cycle now as well.

She probably made the best decision she could at the time. Who knows? maybe now she'd do it differently. Also, testifying is more than just telling the story - you also have cross-examination which can be rather horrifyingly brutal.

You have to do more for those new step daughter than was done for you! I beg you to turn him in. Do not stop talking until someone listens! they deserve to be protected even if you weren't ( I am so sorry for that) You will not regret it - PLEASE help them...

People are people. Even though our mother's are always meant to be there to protect us, it doesn't always work out that way. I don't know how old you are, but you should really talk to your mother. The price she/you might pay down the road could be forever damaged.

Sweetie, you should tell the LE, mother of those girls, and anyone else that will listen. They will thank you for it! Esp. the mother of the girls if you speaking out protects her daughters.
