Refer to the Buddhists view of Karma and the steps you can take toward owning up to your bad deeds. Also, since its best if you can come to self-forgiveness, look at your life at the time and realize what was really going on for you. Figure out how the dog is a symbol for you now. This is a deep learning experience. Would it help to adopt a dog and give it all the love that you wish you could now give to the one whose life you took?

I hope you feel bad, that animal didnt do anything to you. I had to put my 14 yr old pet down because of illness 2 years ago and still get sad about it but at least I did the human thing...it wasn't MURDER!

I used to kill dogs as a job. I was an animal control officer for the local police department. Under orders,dogs that were caught without tags were immediately killed and the others that had tags were kept two days then killed. I had over 400 kills before it became to much to handle. Now I can't have pets in fear of hurting them.
