I killed someone once. He was a burglar breaking into our home. I grabbed my hubbys gun and shot him in the cheast. He died gasping for air. OP here. A couple posts up, somebody said to imagine a sniper shooting your kid in the head and then cheering about it. Do you honestly think that's the way it is? We're all full of bloodlust, waiting for our next kill? I never said I enjoyed killing. As a matter of fact, I don't. I never like killing. But, every man I have ever killed was purely in self defense, or to save the lives of others. NEVER have I killed for enjoyment. I once killed a child. He was about ten years old, probably hadn't hit puberty yet. We were giving his family food, when he came out of a doorway, and shot my machine gunner in the head. He then turned his AK-47 on me, and it became him or me. On his feet were the shoes that the man he had just killed had given him the week before. That's war. OP here. I love it. Never expected this reaction. I'm okay with myself, I sleep well at night. I am against violence. However, sometimes it is necessary. I have never committed violence against somebody that wasn't a direct threat to innocent people, or other soldiers. People against me pray that their relatives may have killed one of mine? And yes, you're right. As a sniper, I had to go through an intense psychological evaluation. I had to go through a year long process to obtain a top secret government clearance. I had an ASVAB score of 98. Graduated high school with a 4.0. Gee, I wish I was smart enough to play video games for the Army. Then I could just sit back and let other people face the danger for me. That would be something to be proud of.

Not everybody in America carries a weapon for self defense. If they did, this country would be even better. Instead, the government decides to make even stricter laws against law abiding citizens, while the criminals still have weapons, and pay no heed to the laws. They are, in effect, taking away it's citizen's right to self defense. Look at the statistics of areas with right to carry laws, and the effects on crime. Pretty amazing.
