OP here~~ so i've been letting a homeless vet eat off the continental breakfast here for about a week or so... one of the other guests came down and questioned me about whether or not he was a guest here. im not a liar by nature, so i said no. and the guest proceeded to give me an earful about how he was taking the food out of other peoples mouths, he doesnt pay for it blah blah blah. i told said guest that neither does he, it comes with the room, and it was none of his business what i do. the vet wasnt hurting anyone, he's clean, and friendly. all he wanted was something to eat, and frankly, i dont see the harm in it. am i a bad person for wanting to make a difference in the world???

awww, no, OP, you're not a bad person AT ALL! You sound compassionate and wonderful. There needs to be more people like you in the world. It would make it a much better place. Please continue to do what you do, no matter if stupid people take offense. Take care. :)

I think its sad that Americans, veterans at that, should ever have to starve. I worked at mcdonalds for 8 months and it disgusted me how many POUNDS , tons! of food we threw away every day. I was homeless living in my car for 1 1/2 years, I wouldve have died to have someone feed me. I dug through the dumpster at panera bread everyday, annd survived off of trash that businesses throw out. When I was in my youth, i stayed in an emergency shelter and all the food we at was expired, donated items. It is an OUTRAGE that people would rather throw out edible food, than give it to a hungry man.FUCK that person who said anything to you.Now that im stable and have a house n job n car i once weekly buy a sack of burgers from mcdonalds and hand them out to the homeless.., it really really makes them smile.God bless you

I think it good that you wanted to help someone out, but don't forget about yourself in the equation and why not wait til the end of breakfast to let himin or give him the left overs? So that way you keep it on the low?
Remove this stupid comment

This man is a vet, he deserves better than this! He fought for our freedoms! And at the end of "breakfast" time where does the leftover stuff go? Probably into the trash. You could ask him to come back at the end of serving time. And how many people don't even partake of their "free" breakfast? I say what goes around comes around. You are a good person.

Thanks to you, that man probably had a little better day because of the help you extended to him-they say tha "the road to hell is paved with good intentions". I DON'T believe that for one second. While believing in JC and why he died is supposed to be the only thing that matters, I find it inconceivable that GOD turns his back on people like you who do good deeds to help others. Great job kiddo!

just hand him some out the back, keep it on the low,and watch out for your back!!!some s.o.b.sare just spiteful
Remove this stupid comment

You TOTALLY made the right call - I used to do the same when I worked in restaurants. The food is more than likely going to be thrown in the trash anyway, please remind future a** ****s of this fact. Keep doing what you're doing, if nothing else I'm sure that this veteran appreciates your kindness.
Remove this stupid comment

This world needs more people like you!!! If more people were willing to help rather than turn their backs and ignore what's going on right in there face this world might not be so backwards.
Remove this stupid comment

You WORK there...so you paid for the food. I'm sure you are allowed to eat the food as well. Nothing wrong with sharing!
Remove this stupid comment

i hope none of you ever end up hungry and homeless!
Remove this stupid comment

It's not like the company is going to lose or go out of business feeding one man some day old fruit is it??? There is wrong and there is right.
Remove this stupid comment

It makes me happy that you did that! To previous comments: Vet or not, he's still a hungry homeless man in risk of starvation whoever this is REALLY helped out. And also, previous poster, you can't just say, "that bum needs to get a job," it doesn't work that way.
Remove this stupid comment

^dont you love how people just assume that getting a job will solve all their problems in life? guess what people? lots of people with jobs are also HOMELESS.....if you had to live on 150 bucks a week minimum wage i bet you couldnt afford a roof over your head or transportation to your job either!!!
Remove this stupid comment

I think it's awesome that there are people who care enough to help out a homeless or hungry man. As long as it's only 1 man and it doesn't "blossom" into 5 or 10, then I think it's fine.

what hotel ?
Remove this stupid comment

You do a wonderful thing, especially since it's a vet.I am 100% behind you. but maybe here's what you do, go out and get a washable take-out type tray and as the breakfast ends load that sum b**** up for the guy. Let him eat, it might be the only time each day he does get to eat. If I worked there I'd push the limits to to feed him as well. As for the jerk, he's probably some rich SOB and I fn hate richies!
Remove this stupid comment

IF he really is a vet, then you did a most honorable thing...assuming he really is a vet. Homeless people will always tell you they are, but some are and some are not. I hope he was for that reason. Good on you for helping though.
Remove this stupid comment

You showed your compassion for others. More people should follow your lead. Ignore the cold heartless guest who showed he had no tolerance for fellow mankind. His day will come. Continue to spread the love . . . it will come back to you ten fold.
Remove this stupid comment

Your a cool dude. Keep this attitude throughout your life. The person who complained is a total a** ****
Remove this stupid comment

OP here~~ after the breakfast is taken down, we do throw away the food. and even if he isnt a vet, he IS still homeless. im the only employee here until 7 am, and he's usually eaten and gone by then. thank you to those who have supported me... i feel like a better person. :D
Remove this stupid comment

I wonder if word will get around about you feeding this guy and then other people might think its a place to go for a free meal and before you know it lots more show up to be fed... just a thought.. But I do like your big heart.. are there shelters in your town to feed the homeless?
Remove this stupid comment

no i dont think so. and if it comes down to that, then i will have to put a stop to it. ~~OP
Remove this stupid comment

No you are not! Bad people set homeless people on fire here in Los Angeles.

God our Father, put you in that exact place at that exact moment so that one of His children could get the sustenance he needed to survive. We are here for one purpose, to love and care for one another... some of us have more in life than others, and it is our responsibility to share and care for those that have less. Kudos to you, man, and keep on doing the RIGHT thing... You will be blessed for your kind deeds... Our Father will see to that, for certain sure. :)

I work in a casino and I had a line of people. A lady in a wheel chair came around and I helped her. I go back to the line, and thelady standing there say "that lady just showed up out of nowhere and we're all standing here waiting in line!" I looked at her all crazy and said "She's handicapped". Bitch didn't say shit after that. Some people are so self involved.

Why do all the homeless guys claim to be vets? They are lying to get more handouts. I'm a war vet and I don't beg for my supper.
Remove this stupid comment

I say MORE POWER TO YOU !! This just provesthat you are still a person and NOT just a damned MACHINE of society programming !! Whoever the "complainer" was, should be putin the homeless persons shoes, THEN let ussee how self-centered and / or "important"they are when they are the one out in thecold and hungry !!
