Nothing wrong with being trained and equipped if things didn’t go right. There’s no point in fearing inanimate objects.

Advice on here about getting professional training is good advice. You might find you enjoy shooting at the range, and, you never know the new friends you might make. But definitely use a professional range. Sometimes police dept's have public hours at their ranges.
