I LOVE my kids. They are the best thing that has ever happened to me. BUT is it possible to Love one more than the other?

Different personality traits/quirks make each child different. I believe that we love our children the same but like some of them more than others.

It is a known fact that there is often favoritism of one child over another, even if it is sub-consciously done. It is nothing to be ashamed of. Just make sure that you spend plenty of time with them, and express your love often (not just verbally, but through hugs and kisses as well). They will be fine.

Absolutely. Personalities can either mesh well or clash horribly between parents and their children, just like any other relationship. (For example, my husband and our oldest son have clashing personalities. However, my husband and our daughter mesh well...he won't tell the kids, but she's his favorite.) Like #5 said, it's nothing to be ashamed of. I whole-heartedly agree with what he/she said.

i agree, sometimes you just click better with one, personality wise. as long as you dont single out the favorite over the others.

Good for you and God bless you! It is possible but you should NEVER let it be known to them.

we love our children the same...its just that perhaps we might like one more than the other. I have a daughter who is a delight daily and the other is a challenge. I love them both but I like the "delight" better. It bothers me and I have to struggle every day to hide the fact and to find positives to comment on with "difficult"

I agree it is more Like than Love. I LOVE both my kids the same , soo much, but I just can relate more to one than the other. Thanks for the comments.

It doesn't matter how well you think you hide it... the least favorite child will know. I know and it messed me up good. 'course my mom was pretty blatant about it. Trust me, the least favorite will know.

My mother loved me more-she used to tell me to keep that a secret.

I love my own flesh-and-blood son more than I do my step-daughter... I thinks it's natural in my situation.

Your feelings are one thing. Your behaviour is another. Make a commitment to yourself that you will appreciate the virtues of the less favoured child.

I have 7 and each is unique and different. They don't compete for my attention tht I', aware of

It is possible but you are ruining your unfavoured child..... so, you suck! Love is not supposed to be subjective from a parent, it should be unconditional.

Every child and person is beautiful. If you can't find that, maybe they would be better off dead to you... aren't hey already if they know they are inferior to their parent?

To the person who said "her unliked child will know": don't project your experiences on to this woman. She never said one of her children is "unliked". She loves them both but simply has a favorite. Most every parent has a favorite child... It's totally normal. As long as you show affection and spend quality time with both children, all will be fine.
