The world is over populated, take on a new purpose in life. If you feel you MUST raise another person to take up precious resources, then adopt a kid whose mom couldn't take care of them, and who hopefully got sterilized soon after she had said kid. I wish you the best.

You know something, as a parent myself I have learned an extremely hard lesson... I 'wanted' to be A Parent, knew it was a job, knew it wasn't just about me having a kid and fullfilling my needs and I hit the jackpot and got twins. It's frickin hard being a parent and I went into it consciously knowing it wasn't about me. Now you keep talking about what YOU want and what you don't now realize is that it is NEVER about what you want and once that child is here, your wants will always come second unless you just want to be a shitty unconscious parent. Grow up, stop being so selfish and self involved and only have kids when you are able to consider the feelings of another human being besides yourself.

Nothing in your comment makes it sound like you are selfish (you may be, you may not be- I have no basis to know). I am a female, and I don't like children or feel the need to have one. I am open and honest about that whenever a relationship I am in starts to get serious. It is frequently a "deal breaker." It is unfortunate that your partner was not so open with you earlier on, but any reasonable person realizes that the decision to have or not have children is important and fundamental in a relationship and not to be disregarded as easily as the other posters suggest.
