You don't have to believe. There is no truth behind it. There is only a story. It's the exact same story that has been told millions of times. Did you know when Egypt ran the world they worshipped the Sun God (Son of God.) The Sun God (Horus)was born to a virgin on December 25th. He was visited by 3 Egyptian Kings, and he eventually rose from the dead after being crucified. There are hundreds of the exact same stories before Jesus ever came around. See religion is a social tool. They use it to teach you to be a good person, or you face consequences (Hell.) Yet it always seems God (the church) needs your money. The world will know peace, when humans completely understand their relationship with NATURE.

Believe what you want. Talk to the sky.... To me Santa and Jesus are the same thing. The first poster was correct, except Horus was the SUN. The Sun as in the big hot thing in the sky. That is how religion started. The first people worshipped the sun, and gave it the name Horus... now Jesus. On December 21st the Sun stays at the same level for 3 days, and the days are the same in length. On the 3rd day -December 25th- the sun rises and the days get longer. Hence the BIRTH of the Sun.People don't want to think that what Mom and Dad told them was a lie. So they will tell you anything they can to detour you from not-believing. Yet they cannot provide any truth other then they just "Feel" like it is real. To me we are nothing more then animals, trees, and plants. We all have a job on the planet. We all are born and all will die. There is no difference. I 100% agree with the first posters statement about our relationship with nature. Governments have hid that relationship forever.

If that is true, then you are that much closer to freedom. The only purpose of religion has been to control the human race. It has done so effectively. This is not to say you cannot be a spiritual person, but you do this by connecting with the source within you, not outside of yourself.

Honestly I think god, is an energy, not a guy or one being, it is everything. It is the web that connects us all. So I think in our subconcious mind we know it's there we can feel it. Human put it in a box and marketed it and called it GOD, wanting you to fear god. There is NO Love in Fear. to answer the question why then do people ask for gods help when facing death, I think it comes from the subconcious as in asking for extra strenght to deal with whatever may come next. Xtra energy a life force greater than anything. People call on it because they know it's there. Call it what you want but "it" "GoD" connects us all.

It takes courage and discipline to have a relationship with Jesus, and once you do, there is no doubt whatsoever. Just like any relationship, it takes time, spending time in the Word and in prayer, to become close to God. God wants all men to be saved, even those who do not believe, and those who hate Him.

^2 up - actually you're incorrect. It takes absolutely no courage in most of the world to be a Christian. As for China, the Christians there mostly belong to an aberrant form of Pentecostalism, and the conversion rates are deceiving. Most who become Christians there actually retain their former Confucianism, Buddhism, etc. And no, Christianity is not a "relationship" - it is a religion like any other (James 1:26-27). Your theology is very shallow and undeveloped.
