I hate my mom for being so selfish and not protecting me when I was a kid. I won't tell her because I don't want to hurt her feelings. I don't know why I care.

Maybe you need to be more concerned about YOUR feelings than hers? She probably needs a serious wake-up call.

Now is always the time to tell the truth. If you dont you will end up living a hidden life doing things you are ashamed of that will keep you from love.We all know who the victim is here so speak up for those that love and will love you in the future.

You care because she was supposed to be there for you. I know two girls who needed protecting but they weren't. Some people shouldn't have children. Get some counseling. If you ever have kids of your own be there for them. Good luck.

I'm sorry you had to go through horrible things as a child and that your mom didn't protect you. Don't keep it a secret in order to avoid "hurting her feelings". You were just a child and it is her burden to carry. However, forgive her. I'm sure she'll feel horrible for what happened to you and will ask for your forgiveness.

I have had serious "mom" issues too. It's hard to say anything bad about your folks, especially your mom. Moms are like, you know, "sacred cows." People are like, "What do you mean you don't like your mom, you ungrateful SOB?" But it can be true. My mom always wanted a girl for her first born, and she was furious that I was a boy. She always favored my siblings over me, and generally ground my self-esteem into dust. As you might guess, I was fearful and awkward around girls and women, and this led to all sorts of inappropriate realtionships and behaviors, and really cheated me out of the emotional devlopment in I needed in my teens and twenties. Only after my mother died did I develop the self-esteem necessary to have appropriate realtionships with appropriate women. You can heal from all this, but it takes time and effort. Above all, DO NOT blame yourself!
